Concept/Aboutness/Idea: The image is about beauty. The idea was to use the outside lighting to view the shadows within the face. Method : The process that I used to create this image was to use the sunlight and the shadows with in the closed in area that we were in. I experimented with the angle of the sunlight. Motivation: My goal was to capture the shadow of the face. Context: My work relates to the studio portraits that are taken up close of models for magazines add, television adds etc. This portrait is about cultural and social issues. You always see a lot of photos with young men modeling for adds so this is what I was trying to portray.
Composition: In this photo my use of framing was to not to crop any part of the image because of the way I took the picture. I changed a lot of the contrasting to make the black and white balance within the gray scale of the picture. I also darkened the figure in the image to put the focus on him.

I love all the contrast. The second one is my favorite, it has the most meaning to me. I also like the feathering you did around the third one.
ReplyDeleteI like the top one the most. Maybe the white vignetting (in the third one) doesn't work for me that much
ReplyDeletei like the harshness of the wall against the sky in the second picture. i really like the way you set up the 3rd picture and i especially like how each photo looks like a movie still and the viewer has to guess what actions come after the picture.
ReplyDelete1. I feel the image could be cropped in a bit more
ReplyDelete2. Great contrast…consider framing the subject a touch to one of the sides
3. I'm not feeling the vignette
4. Great framing…and the contrast between the subject and the background is awesome
i like this set of photos, the sunglasses really helped to show the personality of the subject. i loved how he posed!
ReplyDeletethese do feel like an action/drama mafia movie. his facial expressions and body language work for your goal. i think they work as a series and might be interesting printed in a line like a movie reel. can you bring back any more detail in the sky of the second one? to me, the first and third seem most like a movie and the second is very strong as a cd cover.
ReplyDeleteThe second and the fourth images are the strongest to me - the contrast is nice in both of them. You can definitely get a strong mafia feel from all of these images.
ReplyDeleteI like the last photo. I love the background of windows and the contrast of the subject's shirt with the dark colors in the back.
ReplyDeleteThe first one really does look like it would be in a movie. He really does look like a celebrity.
I also like the 2nd one because of the simple background. I think it might have had more of contrast if he were wearing a darker color shirt to stand out from the clouds.
The first photo really sticks out the most to me. The clarity of the foreground looks nice against the slight bluriness of the background.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is also a nice well balanced piece. Strong contrast between the foreground and background.
I like the first one, with the way the image has clear geometric sections to it. The second one is nice especially how the line where his shirt ends does not match up with the line in the background where the edge of the concrete ends. I'm not sure I like the vignetting on the third, but in general I really like the style that all of these portray.
ReplyDeleteI like the first and last one the best. I think the composition and contrast on those ones are really good. I think it might have been cool to maybe get one of the man looking down at the camera, because it would make him look more powerful.
ReplyDeleteGood job.
I think that all 4 of them look great! They look very high fashion. I think the first 2 are my favorite. In the second one I like the way he's standing, it looks like it could be the cover of an album.
ReplyDeleteI really like the one in which he is in a suite. It looks really good composition. Try to play with the contrast a little more.
